What I actually
do for a living

Mostly monitors and stage left. The short version, for anyone who isn't an audio person.

If you've been to a concert, a festival, a church service or a company keynote and could hear every word and every note clearly, someone like me made that happen, and you probably never noticed. That's the goal.

MONITORS — THE BAND'S MIX

What the performers hear

The crowd hears one mix. The people on stage each need their own, in floor speakers or earpieces, so they can hear themselves and stay in time. I build and run those mixes. When the singer can hear, the show sounds better for everyone.

STAGE LEFT — KEEPING IT WORKING

Mics, wireless, fast fixes

I place the mics, set up the wireless so dozens of mics and earpieces don't interfere with each other, and stand side stage for the whole show. If something cuts out, I fix it before anyone in the seats notices.

SYSTEMS & QC — BEFORE THE SHOW

Building the whole rig

For corporate events I design and hang the speaker systems, and I run the computers behind LED video walls. In the shop I test every console, speaker and mic before it goes out and after it comes back. Gear that works on the truck works on the stage.
